Speakers - Sansui SP-70

Ahhh. . .a Sansui with only two drivers and a 1" soft dome tweeter at that! These were nice-sounding, unassuming little gems that somehow got buried in the multiple driver mayhem of the mid-70s Sansui megalo-driver lineup. My friend had these playing in his den, hooked up to a Sansui 5000 receiver from the same era. I remember being impressed by how great these mid-sized speakers sounded and how much bass was ported out from an 8" woofer. Nice cabinets too, although it looks like grills hadn't been removed for 20 years. Nice beer stain too :)

Sansui really paid attention to design detail in the mid-70s. Most major players did, and it was sad to see most of this detail disappear as the decade rolled into the 80's. But if you look around, you can still find these artifacts from the days before mass-market audio took over. As a collector, the thrill of the hunt is just as exciting as owning the gear.

If you have any photos or stories about your Sansui SP-70 speakers, please leave a comment or email me.
