Receivers - Yamaha R-300

I sure like these Yamaha receivers from the early 80s. This one had some handsome wood grain metal going on and a striking black face. Only 30 watts per channel, but when you look this good, you don't need to show off. . . .the reciever, not me.

Have any more info, photos, video links for the Yamaha R-300? Leave a comment or send me an email.

  1. Just finished prepping one of these Yamaha R-300 black-face beauties ("prepping" is putting it mildly-this poor thing was rough when it came in...greasy smeared front plate, missing selector knob, filthy case-couldn't even tell it was wood under the dirt)...apparently these were part of a very limited production run (with the real mahogany veneer case and satin black front plate). I have to admit, it shined up like a new penny! Luckily, a search through my loaded parts bin yieled the missing rare black flat selector switch! Now it definitely stands out among the many other silver face receivers on display. I swear I heard it say "Hey, look at ME!"
