Lost the photos of mine, so borrowed this from the Web.
Who says vintage boom boxes can't be considered Hi-Fi? Perhaps I should grab the domain LoFiCollector.com? In any case, this was a monster boombox - born from an era of huge shoulders and spiking hearing aid sales. I found this at a Goodwill in Santa Barbara for . . .gasp $7.00. It had some static issues, so it sat in my closet for a year. When I finally got around to fixing it, I almost tossed the whole thing out because I couldn't get the back on right after cleaning the controls and switches. While deciding whether to make it a boat anchor or put it back into the closet, I did a quick eBay search on it and found the same model going for $990.00 in a buy-it-now sale. Feet don't fail me now! I spent the next hour or so getting the back on right, cleaned it all up, shot the video you see here, and sold it for over $700.00. Moral: Always check Terapeak or eBay before donating to the landfill. Remember the three "R's" - Reduce, Reuse, Resell.
Stop back tomorrow for some more vintage portable news. In the meantime, here's a link to the boombox hall of fame - includes the M90.
