Speakers - HK-20 Harmon Kardon 20

I only had a short time to audition these little gems. My friend had them stowed in his garage for two decades and we brought them down to see if they still had the sound he remembered. According to him, they did. The simplistic construction - notice the glue/putty/adhesive around the tweeter, and the interesting tone controls on the back terminal connectors make these speakers quaint. The sound, makes these speakers something to keep for decades.

How do they sound? Surprisingly natural - much like The Advent Loudspeaker. A little less bass, but quite nice, full, great for small spaces.

If you have any photos or stories about your HK-20 loudspeakers, please leave a comment or send me an email.

  4. I loved these speakers. I still have the HK20's, had the HK40's and the HK4 which seemed just about identical. Great sound if you can EQ them right! If anyone wants a pair or two of HK20's hit me up. revgreg66@yahoo.com

  6. I just myself a pair of the HK40's which are 4ohm. Aside from some discoloration on the cabinets they are in great shape. Here is a picture:

  7. Got a pair recently that had blown tweets. I pit in a pr of classic style phenolic tweets from Parts Express and they sound great. Had to do a little digging to make them fit. Wondering if these are a correct match for the original sound.
